Welcome to "Profiles and Publishing statistics"
Welcome! This guide aims to enable you to set up an author ID, keep track of what you publish, and find and understand statistics about your work. You can take modules in turn; or, you can jump to a specific module/page of interest (click on "Modules" in the menu).
- Module 1: Your publishing record and author identity
This module is about the advantages of having an author ID, and includes a practical walk-through on how to set one up in ORCID, Google Scholar and Web of Science. It also contains tips on how to keep an activity record up to date easily. - Module 2: About bibliometric indicators and statistics
This module gives a short introduction to some common indicators (e.g. h-index, citations) and issues to be aware of when using them. - Module 3: Finding publishing statistics for yourself
This module assumes you have knowledge of author IDs (module 1) and a basic understanding of indicators and their limitations (module 2). It provides ideas about what kinds of publication statistics are available, including traditional and alternative metrics (such as those which help illustrate engagement with open science or innovation). It also covers how to find these statistics for yourself.
