Bonus points

Mistakes in course material

If you find a (substantial) mistake in the material for the course, you may be awarded bonus points (note: not including the textbook).

If, for instance, you are able to pass all the tests on an auto-graded problem with a demonstrably incorrect solution, you will be awarded 1 bonus points towards the final grade of the course. In order to get the point, you must submit the following:

  • (a) a faulty solution which passes all the test cases provided by us, and
  • (b) a valid test case that the faulty solution fails to answer correctly or within the time limit.

The bonus points are awarded to the first person who submit the error. An additional 0.5 bonus points are awarded if the provided test case reveals errors in the solutions provided by us.

Participation in programming contests

You can get bonus points for participation in programming contests during the semester, such as the Nordic Collegiate Programming Contest (NCPC). These contests are a fantastic training opportunity for courses such as INF102, INF234, INF237 and INF334, programming interviews, and (most importantly) problem solving in general. You may be awarded the following bonus points:

  • (1 point) Participate in three or more warm-up contests prior to NCPC
  • (1 point) Participate in NCPC
  • (2 points) Participate in Bergen Open
