Why do we have a retention policy?

To avoid unused content taking up storage capacity on the servers, it has been decided that content that no longer serves its purpose must be deleted. There is a climate-related cost in storing large amounts of teaching video, which means that a deletion routine is necessary. Content that is in use, or that needs to be taken care of for various reasons, is not problematic to store in Panopto. But content that is not in use will be removed.

When are old videos deleted?

Videos that have not been viewed for 13 months will be removed. You will be notified via email before this happens. If you need videos to be saved for longer, administrators at Panopto can arrange this for you.
