What happened to my Kaltura videos?
Transfer of videos to Panopto
Videos that have been uploaded to Kaltura (My videos and Course videos) have been transferred to Panopto. If you own transferred videos from Kaltura, you can now find them in the Panopto Video tab, in a folder named Kaltura Migrations
You can also find the same folder in the page editor, by clicking the Panopto button in the toolbar:
NOTE: If you create videos in Kaltura after the transfer, they will not be migrated to Panopto!
Kaltura videos integrated in Mitt UiB pages
There are many who have chosen to embed videos in pages and modules in Mitt UiB so that they are easily accessible for students. When Kaltura is closed, these links will stop working and you have to replace them with Panopto links. See Embed Panopto videos into Mitt UiB modules and pages for instructions.
Videos that had captions in Kaltura
If you had created captions for a video in Kaltura, this captions file has been transferred to Panopto. However, regardless of the language, this text file has been labelled as "English". Your video will also have an automatically generated captions file (ASR) in Norwegian, and this is the one that viewers will see first. To view your old text file instead, you must therefore delete the ASR file from Panopto. Before doing this, it's a good idea to download your text file, in case something goes wrong when you try to delete the ASR file.
Shared publish and editing rights
After the transfer to Panopto, only the person who is the owner of the Kaltura content will have access. Any persons who have been given the role of co-publisher etc. must be added as Creator to a folder to have edit and publish access to its content. See Sharing videos to learn more about sharing Panopto videos
Quiz
Both Kaltura and Panopto have built-in functionality for quizzes, but these are not compatible with each other. Quizzes created in Kaltura will therefore not be transferred to Panopto.
