Section 3 - Two types of CV

Example of a CV2 Types of CV

Now that we have established that your CV is showcasing your experience and achievements, you can choose between two principles in CV making. You have the chronological CV and the experience and achievements CV

If you are continuing a career path and it's important to communicate relevant experience and record of accomplishment, the chronological CV is suitable. However, if you are changing your career direction or you have only a few years of relevant experience, the experienced based CV is a good choice.

If you went directly from your masters to your PhD, you should consider an experience-based CV. You need to demonstrate to employers what skills you have acquired and how these skills can be relevant for the job. In the private and public sector employers are more interested in your competencies than positions, so unpack your PhD journey and elaborate on your skills.

Remember to align your CV to the culturally accepted standards for a CV in the geographical region you apply for job.
