THE PHD DEGREE AT UNIVERSITY LEVEL

The PhD degree is at the University of Bergen (central) level.  A PHD degree is a structured and organized training of early stage researchers through and mainly for research. The University of Bergen has an international profile and offer opportunities to conduct both traditional and cross-disciplinary research as a part of the doctoral education.

THE PHD PROGRAMME AT FACULTY LEVEL

The university offers seven PhD programmes, organized by each of its seven faculties. The programme at our faculty is named: The PhD programme at the Faculty of Social Sciences. All (approx. 150) candidates at the faculty are admitted to the same PhD programme. Therefore a PhD degree within the programme at the Faculty may be within many different disciplines.
